ART EXHIBITION IN LITHUANIA
The Lithuanian partner Active Youth organised an art exhibition called "Shape of Sand”. Active Youth have collaborated with a young artist and eco-activist and they decided to name the exhibition "Shape of sand" , a photography exhibition inspired by the zero waste movement, aimed at drawing attention to the pollution of the Baltic Sea coasts. Each photo captures a different sandscape on the most popular beaches in Lithuania, almost usually interspersed with the "footprints" of vacationers.
As an artist said: she has always been attracted to our Baltics (Lithuania). Every time I had to drive home from Šventoji (Lithuania), I walked backwards from the sea until I could no longer see water on the horizon. Now, when I walk along the coast and find this amount of garbage, I constantly create scenarios in my head, how a package or napkin could have ended up in that place.. Maybe it fell out of my pocket when I was pulling out my phone to take a photo? Maybe the wind blew from an unfastened backpack and no one managed to catch it? Or did it blow out of a nearby trash can without anyone seeing it? Because it's impossible for someone to consciously choose to throw it out here as it stands. I really don't want to believe it.", — Miglė Vasiliauskaitė, author of the exhibition.
The "Sand Shape" photo series invites not only to notice and reject such a junction between man and nature, but also to collect and leave the recreation areas cleaner than they were found.
